Interview of Marcel Barbeau by Yolaine Mottet from FrenchCBC

Author :Gauthier Ninon Date : 30/03/2010 Marcel Barbeau comment on his latest poduction for Yolaine Mottet from Téléjournal de Colombie Britannique for French CBC in his exhibition “Anaonstruction”, at the Winsor gallery in Vancouver.

The spring brings Marcel Barbeau back to Vancouver from March 28th to April 3rd for his exhibition at the Windsor Gallery which has been representing him on the West coast since the fall of 2009. Under the title ‘Anaconstruction”, the exhibition includes paintings from Barbeau’s most recent stay in Paris, created between 1994 and 2008. A painting from his last Montreal production, from 2009 and directly related to these, four prints, created between 1990 and 2002 and two small studies on sculptures from 1989 and 1990, which are connected to this production and have already been exposed in France, complete this exhibition of great formal unity, considering the length of the twenty year period it covers. It highlights the interrelation between Barbeau’s paintings and sculptures from this period and the sculptural and architectural dimensions of its continuation “Anaconstructions” which these paintings and prints belong to.

In addition to attending the opening of the exhibition on March 31st, Marcel Barbeau will give a talk about his recent proposition, at the Windsor Gallery on Tuesday March 30th at 4:00pm. Furthermore, he will be giving two interviews which will be broadcast on Radio Canada Vancouver, one live with Denis Couture, at 3pm for the showCorrespondance and the other, with Yolaine Mottet at the French CBC British Colombia and Yukon Telejournal, at 6 PM on Wednesday March 31st. The exhibition will go on until April 25th.
