Governor General Award 2013 exhibition opening.
To celebrate the attribution of the Governor general Awards in visual and media arts on 2013, the National Gallery of Canada dedicated an exhibition to the prize-winners. Marcel Barbeau was represented in this event by three works of various periods, illustrating partially his rich career. In the absence of recent works of the artist in the collection of the museum, the Gallery Trépanier Baer, which represents the artist in Calgary gracefully lend ” Diamond, footbridge of stars “, of 1997. “, a major work of the long series of Anaconstructions. ” Retina achale moé not “, an optical painting of the New York period of the artist from winter of 1966, was also a part of the exhibition. This major work also illustrated the banner in the entranceof the museum. Comming from a private collection, this masterful work had not been publicly presented since its exhibition(exposure) to the gallery from the Century to winter, 1967.
