Virgin Forest presented at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid

Forêt Vierge, 1946. Huile sur contre-plaqué. Collection du Musée des Beaux-Arts du Canada.
Marcel Barbeau’s painting entitled Virgin Forest (1946) will be presented at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía this fall in Madrid. Part of the collection of the National Gallery of Canada, the painting will be part of the exhibition París pese a topo. Artistas extranjeros, 1944-1968 [Paris without Regret. Foreing Artists, 1944-1968] from November 20, 2018 to April 22, 2019.
This exhibition addresses the active and significant participation of foreign artists in the Parisian art scene between 1944 and 1968. During this period, a significant number of artists from Eastern Europe, the United States, Latin America and Canada , settle in the French capital which offers them a free creative environment, particularly conducive to experimentation and expression.
The exhibition offers visitors a foray into this complex and thriving arts community to discover exceptional works which are often little known to the public.
The exhibition includes, among others, works by Picasso, Kandinsky, Chillida, Carmen Herrera, Kelly Ellsworth, Palazuelo, Tinguely, Tamayo.
